The Blue Jays announce that they have signed Dillon Tate
The Blue Jays just announced that they have signed one of their former relievers, Dillon Tate, to a major league deal to help with the teams current bullpen injuries.
Blue Jays have agreed to a major-league deal with right-handed reliever Dillon Tate, per sources. Deal is pending a physical.
The Jays claimed Tate off waivers from the Orioles last Sept and called him up later that month. He made four appearances and was non-tendered in Nov.
Blue Jays doing Dillon Tate to a Major-League Deal is this good enough or should they make another move before opening day?
The Blue Jays claimed Tate off waivers last year from the Baltimore Orioles last September in which he was called up later that month, making four appearances for Toronto but was then non-tendered in the off-season.
In four games last season with the Blue Jays, Tate finished with a 5.40 ERA in 3.1 innings pitched while striking out four batters and finishing the season with one save that came when he was with the Orioles.
While Tate will likely not stay with the Blue Jays for the entire season if he puts up similar numbers, he is likely there to help out in the bullpen while the team deals with their current injured players.
It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays end up making any other moves for their bullpen before the start of the season.
