Blue Jays have traded Will Robertson to the White Sox
News broke early this morning that the Blue Jays have agreed to a trade with the White Sox for Robertson and the return is expected to be cash considerations but has yet to be officially announced.
Can confirm the White Sox are acquiring outfielder Will Robertson. Was DFA'd earlier this week by the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old hit .292/.403/.578 with 14 home runs in 62 games for Triple-A Buffalo this year, appeared at all three outfield spots.
Most were quite surprised to see Robertson DFA'd since he never really got a fair chance in Toronto as he only had 10 at bats this season.
In 3 games this season with the Blue Jays, Robertson had 1 hit in 10 at bats with a .100 batting average, .250 on base percentage and 7 strikeouts.
While those numbers are not, the sample size is miniscule which is why it is surprising they decided to move on from him after barely giving him a real shot in the MLB.
At the same time Robertson is 27 years old and they clearly did not have room for him in the lineup which is why trading him might be the best move for his career as he might actually get a chance to play in Chicago.
