Blue Jays DFA Will Robertson, place Andres Gimenez on IL and call up Joey Loperfido
The Blue Jays announced this morning a long list of roster moves as the most surprising one is that Robertson has been DFA'd to make room on the roster for Joey Loeprfido who has been called up for the first time this season.
Toronto also announced that Ryan Burr has been re-instated, Lazaro Estrada has been optioned back to Triple-A to make room for Burr and Andres Gimenez has been placed on 10-day Il with an ankle sprain.
ROSTER MOVES:
🔹 RHP Ryan Burr reinstated from the 60-day IL and will be active today
🔹 OF Joey Loperfido recalled from Triple-A and will be active today
🔹RHP Lazaro Estrada optioned to Triple-A
🔹 INF Andrés Giménez (left ankle sprain) placed on the 10-day IL, retroactive to July 5
Andres Gimenez hits the injured list with a left ankle sprain while Lazaro Estrada, after throwing four innings in debut, is optioned to triple-A Buffalo.
Righty Ryan Burr returns from the 60-day IL and gives the bullpen a fresh arm. Joey Loperfido is up to take Gimenez spot
The shocking move was Robertson being DFA'd since he only got his first shot at the MLB this season after being drafted in 2019 and even though he did not put up great numbers, he only saw 10 at bats.
It will be interesting to see if anyone ends up taking a shot at him.
