Lazaro Estrada (Signed as an international free agent in 2018 by Toronto) is packing his bags for the Buffalo Bisons.
The 26-year-old righty showed intense flashes of brilliance with a solid 4.76 ERA across 11.1 innings this spring.
Optioning him to the minor leagues is not a punishment by any stretch of the imagination.
It is a calculated strategy to keep his arm fresh and stretched out for the long summer ahead.
He will get regular reps in Triple-A and stay completely ready for his inevitable return to the big leagues.

The front office is building an unstoppable force

We can all feel the immense relief of finally getting a clear picture of this daily pitching staff.
Sending a promising young arm down simply ensures we have reliable depth waiting in the wings.
Injuries are an inevitable part of baseball, and hoarding ready replacements is how you win a World Series.
The second half of today's news involves a seasoned veteran looking for a fresh start elsewhere.
Connor Seabold (Drafted Round 3, 2017 by Philadelphia) has officially been granted his unconditional release.
The 30-year-old right-hander battled hard but ultimately posted a 6.75 ERA with 13 strikeouts over his brief camp appearances.
Giving him his freedom now is a respectful move that lets him find a better opportunity immediately.
We appreciate his efforts and wish him nothing but the best in his next professional chapter.
Management is making the tough calls right now to guarantee absolute dominance from the very first pitch.
Building a winning culture means making space for the absolute best arms available on the open market.
The internal competition this spring has pushed everyone to elevate their performance to a completely new level.
Every single decision made today brings us closer to that magical feeling of a heated pennant race.
The energy pulsing through this loyal fanbase right now is absolutely electric and completely contagious.
Our boys are primed to make a massive statement when the regular season begins next week.
