Yesterday the Toronto Blue Jays along with the bulk of Major League Baseball has opened their spring training camps and the organization continues to iron out the starting pitching staff and who will have the mound on Opening Day.
Max Scherzer, Kevin Gausman and Chris Bassit
The Blue Jays did some changes to their starting rotation as they had signed Max Scherzer to become a starter for the team and is looking forward to playing for the Blue Jays.
Kevin Gausman likely to get the mound on Opening Day
Last season for Kevin Gausman did not go according to plan as he had a down season and a forgetful one in the first half.
Gausman picked things up as the season went on, as he went 5-3 with a stellar 2.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and .194 opponents batting average in 56 2/3 innings across his last nine starts of the season. The No. 1 spot in the rotation is his to lose. Edward Eng
Many feel after having Cy Young votes in 2023, Gausman will likely be the starting pitcher for Opening Day.
Kevin Gausman gonna remind a lot of people this year he is still that guy
There's a strong possibility that Jose Berrios will be the second starting pitcher as he has been the most consistent starter for the Blue Jays last season. Having Gausman and Berrios as your 1-2 punch is certainly a good sign for the Blue Jays.
Bassitt ahead of Scherzer in the rotation?
Further down the rotation it appears that they have Chris Bassitt marked over Max Scherzer as the number three pitcher but there is a strong feeling that this could change as Scherzer becomes more comfortable with the Blue Jays organization
and shows that he still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

First look at Max Scherzer in a Blue Jays uniform
Bassitt had a losing record last year, he appeared to regress and will be looking for a new contract this coming off season which could likely help the Blue Jays as he will play better to show that he is worth the money he thinks he's worth.
There are strong indications that the Blue Jays will move Yariel Rodriguez to the bullpen to help strengthen that position and this will allow Bowden Francis a chance to show the great numbers he had shown last year.
The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 4-2 record with a sparkling 1.53 ERA,
0.53 WHIP, along with just seven walks and 56 strikeouts in 59 innings pitched in his final nine starts and came close to tossing a no-hitter twice. Edward Eng

Blue Jays fans will have to wait and see how the starting rotation will shake out and fans will get a chance to see that soon as Spring Training begins to ramp up.
The first game for the Blue Jays in grapefruit league will be on February 22nd when they take on the New York Yankees at TD ballpark in Dunedin Florida.
