The Toronto Blue Jays need help in their starting rotation which has been the biggest problem this season which is why many believe they will acquire a pitcher from the Chicago White Sox.
The Blue Jays biggest issue lately has been the inconsistency in their starting rotation and the terrible level that Bowden Francis has been pitching at which has resulted in multiple losses over the last month.
Blue Jays looking to acquire White Sox pitcher Aaron Civale
MLB insider Bob Nightengale recently announced that the White Sox who just acquired
Civale are looking to trade him at the deadline in hopes of getting some solid prospects in return.
«They [White Sox] plan to trade him at the July 31 deadline, believing they could get at least a couple of mid-tier prospects in return,» -Nightengale
According to reports, the Blue Jays should be able to land the struggling pitcher fir a couple mid level prospects which would be the only good part of this deal.
With the Blue Jays' potential need for a fifth starter, Civale is a name worth keeping an eye on, especially if it only costs a couple of mid-level prospects. -Postins
The Blue Jays need to find a reliable pitcher and with a 4.06 career ERA and a 4.67 ERA on the season so far this year between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox, bringing in Civale will not be good for the Blue Jays.
His career numbers before joining the White Sox were 40-37 with a 4.06 ERA in 122 career starts. He had 596 strikeouts and 177 walks in 658.1 innings. He's never made an All-Star team, but he is a quality arm for rotation depth. -Postins
Toronto would be better off keeping Bowden Francis in the rotation and working through his struggles than trading for
Civale who has not had a season below a 4.00 ERA since 2023.
If the Blue Jays trade for a starting pitcher, they need to find someone that could be relied upon in the second half of the season, not another risk.
