The Blue Jays announce that they outright Ali Sanchez
The Blue Jays announced a couple days ago that they DFA'd catcher Ali Sanchez who was called up to the majors after Tyler Heineman went down with a concussion a couple weeks ago.
According to reports, Sanchez has cleared waivers and has been sent outright to the Buffalo Bisons in Triple-A but he still has the right to elect free agency if he decides to.
Catcher Ali Sánchez has been sent outright to Triple-A Buffalo, according to his transactions tracker at MLB.com. That indicates he cleared waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week. He has the right to elect free agency though it's not currently clear if he will exercise that right. -McDonald
The Blue Jays have sent catcher Ali Sanchez outright to AAA, meaning that Sanchez cleared waivers following his DFA by the Blue Jays earlier this week. Sanchez can elect free agency, but it is unclear if he will at this time.
Sanchez will likely accept the assignment to Triple-A as when he signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays in the off-season, he was never expected to see any time in the MLB so this last trip was simply a bonus.
Now that the Blue Jays have Heineman back, Alejandro Kirk can finally feel a bit less pressure about having to play every night.
