The Toronto Blue Jays have shown interest in free agent pitcher Jose Quintana and it looks like his projected offer has been announced.
The Blue Jays need to find a solution to their starting rotation that is in a tough spot as of right now and need to sign someone before the start of Spring Training, despite being linked to multiple pitchers, they have yet to close a deal.
The Blue Jays projected offer to free agent Jose Quintana has been announced
The Blue Jays could benefit from adding a pitcher of Quintana's caliber to their rotation as he is a consistent pitcher with a ton of experience that could easily jump into the third or fourth spot in the rotation.
According to reports, Quintana should sign a multi-year deal worth between $10-$12 million per season which a two year deal at $21 million for the Blue Jays could make a ton of sense.
It's hard to figure out what Quintana will earn in free agency, but considering that 41-year-old Charlie Morton just got $15 million from the Orioles, Quintana would seem to be in line for a multi-year deal at a more lucrative price than that. -Farkas
Pitcher Charlie Morton is a solid comparable to Quintana and he just signed for $15 million with the Baltimore Orioles last week which indicates Quintana should be able to secure a bigger contract.
Quintana is coming off solid season in New York as he finished with a 10-10 record to go along with a 3.75 ERA with 135 strikeouts in 170.1 innings pitched.
Adding Quintana to the Blue Jays rotation would be a great addition just for his consistency as he has had an ERA under 4.00 in his last three season while finishing with a 2.93 ERA in 2022.
Clearly fans would have loved to add a pitcher like Corbin Burnes or Max Fried instead but clearly adding Quintana could end up being a solid secondary option.
Whoever the Blue Jays sign, hopefully they are able to add at least once starting pitcher this off-season.
