The Toronto Blue Jays release back up catcher
The Toronto Blue Jays announced that Buffalo Bisons backup catcher Matt Whatley has been released from his contract as he hits free agency.
This is a surprising move since the Blue Jays had so little catcher depth to start the season but with a few addition made before the season it looks like they finally have a few more catchers.

The Blue Jays announced that Bisons back up catcher
Whatley has been released from his contract as he will now enter free agency and try to land a new deal with one of the 30 other teams in the league.
The Blue Jays can finally afford to make this move since Christian Bethancourt and Ali Sanchez has been solid in Triple-A this season and if there ever happens to be an injury, they can always rely on them.
Whatley had a tough start to the season with the Blue Jays organization as it has been over a month since the season started and he had yet to enter a game which is why they finally decided to release him.
The Blue Jays signed
Whatley pretty early into the off-season and invited him along with a few other players to Spring Training to have a shot at cracking the Blue Jays roster.
