The Blue Jays have been trying to improve their farm system which is ranked near the bottom for the last few years which is why they have been signing a ton of players and not have decided to release a few as well.
The Blue Jays announce that they have released shortstop Michael Turconi
The Blue Jays have decided to releaase shortstop Michael Turconi from their Triple-A affiliate team the Buffalo Bisons after a very tough start to the season in which he only played 12 games.
Also of note, 2022 15th-rounder Michael Turconi has been released by Buffalo.
Turconi was brutal at the plate to start the season as he had a .130 batting average with a .250 on base percentage, .424 OPS and only 3 hits in 23 at bats so far this season.
The Blue Jays actually drafted Turconi back in the 15th round of the 2022 MLB draft and after progressing through the system over the past few years, he landed finally made it to Triple-A last season but has unfortunately now been released.
Turconi is still very young and has a solid chance of finding himself another minor league deal but he will need to do a lot better than he was if he plans on sticking around in Triple-A.
It will be interesting to see who gives him a chance out of the other 30 teams or if he will land a contract at all.
