The Toronto Blue Jays announced yesterday that after out righting catcher Ali Sanchez to Triple-A they have released him as he elected free agency but they have brought him back after all of that.
The Blue Jays announced that they have released catcher Ali Sanchez then sign him to a new deal
Sanchez was DFA'd after catcher Tyler Heineman returned from the injured list in which he was out on for a couple weeks for concussion protocol and as he returned they needed to clear up room for him on their roster.
The Blue Jays have sent catcher Ali Sanchez outright to AAA, meaning that Sanchez cleared waivers following his DFA by the Blue Jays earlier this week. Sanchez can elect free agency, but it is unclear if he will at this time.
Despite many believing that Sanchez would stay since he was never suppose to be back in the MLB as the Blue Jays brought him in for depth in the minors, it looks like he has decided to re-enter free agency at 38 years old.
After being outrighted to AAA Buffalo yesterday, Ali Sánchez has elected free agency, per #BlueJays.
Then in a very bizarre fashion, the Blue Jays announced that they signed Sanchez to another minor league deal and have assigned him to the Buffalo Bisons in Triple-A.
This was a very strange strange 48 hours for Sanchez but it looks like everything is back to normal.
