The Toronto Blue Jays sign two of their drafted players way under their slot value
The Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have signed their first two pitchers from the MLB Draft as they agree to deals with Danny Thompson Jr and Austin Smith.
The Blue Jays have been busy signing free agents that went undrafted after the MLB Draft as they agreed to deals with Maddox Latta and Carson Myers over the last couple of days.

The Blue Jays signed their first two players that they drafted at the 2025 MLB Draft as they have agreed to terms with pitchers Austin Smith and Danny Thompson Jr.
According to reports, they signed both smith and Thompson well under their slot value of $238,600 and $193,000 as both players agreed to a $5000 signing bonus.
According to Baseball America's Carlos Collazo, the Blue Jays have signed eight-rounder Danny Thompson Jr. and 10th-rounder Austin Smith. Both have been signed to a bonus of $5,000, well below their slot value of $238,600 and $193,500, respectively. -Delaney
The Blue Jays ended up taking Thompson is the eighth round of this year's draft while Smith was taken in the tenth round.
The Blue Jays have signed 8th rounder Danny Thompson ($5,000) and 10th rounder Austin Smith ($5,000).
This is an unbelievable move by Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins as he got both these pitchers locking in for a fraction of their slot value and can now use that extra cash to lock down some higher draft picks such as Jojo Parker.
With all the players Toronto drafted this year, it will be interesting to see which of them end up having long careers and make it to the MLB and which ones will eventually fade out.
The real test for these players begins once they get signed and start playing pro ball, whether they go undrafted or are first round picks it doesn't matter anymore, all that matters is who decides to show up when it counts.
