Blue Jays announce that Daulton Varsho will be on IL to start the season
When it comes to the outfield, the big question has been if Varsho will be ready in time since he has been progressing so well to start the season but it looks like he unfortunately won't be ready in time.
According to Arden Zwelling, Varsho will start the season on the injured list for the first series against the Baltimore Orioles but he will be eligible to return from IL after that series.
Daulton Varsho will begin the season on the injured list. He'll be in Toronto for opening day to receive his Gold Glove then return to Dunedin where he'll continue building up his throwing.
Varsho will be eligible to come off the IL following Blue Jays first homestand
Zwelling added that despite not playing, Varsho will be there on Opening Day as he will be there to receive his Gold Glove award which he wont for his effort during the 2024 season.
They are hoping that Varsho will be ready within a month of Opening Day but it all depends on how his progress goes with fielding over the coming weeks.
Daulton Varsho will open on the IL, John Schneider says.
He'll be in Toronto on Opening Day to receive his Gold Glove Award, then come back to Dunedin and work with Kevin Kiermaier and the #BlueJays staff.
They hope to get him back in the first month of the season.
