Jesse Hahn signing a minor deal with the Blue Jays gives this exhausted bullpen a battle-tested veteran ready to prove himself.

Nobody is planning a parade over a minor league contract in February. Fans usually want blockbuster trades instead of depth signings.
But smart organizations build championship depth through moves exactly like this. The margins between winning and losing are thin.
Management knows our relief corps was pushed to the absolute limit during that grueling World Series run last October.
We desperately need fresh arms to eat innings and protect our high-leverage guys early in the season. Fatigue is a serious threat.
Hahn (Drafted Round 6, 2010 by Tampa Bay Rays) is completely familiar with the relentless grind of professional baseball. He understands survival.
The 36-year-old righty has faced massive adversity over the years. Severe arm injuries derailed his trajectory and forced him off the mound.
The Blue Jays announced the signining yesterday and have now decided to announce that they will be inviting Hahn to Spring Training which will give him a chance at cracking the bullpen.

Ross Atkins is hunting for hidden value

Jays fans are just praying we can find another reliable bridge to the ninth inning before Opening Day.
He finally made his return to the majors last year with the Seattle Mariners. Fighting back after years away proves his determination.
Hahn pitched to a 5.40 ERA in a brief five-inning stint out of the bullpen out west. It was a tiny sample size.
Those surface numbers will not blow you away immediately. You have to look at the underlying mechanics to see the potential.
He spent most of the recent season generating weak contact in Triple-A Tacoma. Pitching in that environment is notoriously difficult for anyone.
The veteran still features a heavy sinker that induces grounders at an elite rate. Keeping the ball down is a massive advantage.
That specific profile plays incredibly well under the bright lights of the Rogers Centre. We need guys who can force timely double plays.
With Yimi Garcia potentially delayed by injury, a bullpen spot is genuinely up for grabs. The door is wide open for a competitor.
If Hahn can refine his command this spring, he could become the ultimate comeback story for Toronto.
Great teams need resilient players.
