The Toronto Blue Jays made an announcement that relief pitcher Dillion Tate has accepted an outright why and will head to Triple A - Buffalo after he cleared waivers and was designated for assignment.

The Blue Jays have been receiving great pitching from several of their relief pitchers including Mason Fluarty and Brendon Little which left no room for Tate who will find steady work in Buffalo.

Blue Jays have dropped and re-signed Tate over the last year

Tate, 31, first landed in Toronto last September. The Jays claimed him off waivers from the division-rival Orioles, with whom the former fourth overall pick had pitched parts of five MLB campaigns.

Toronto dropped him over the offseason in lieu of a projected $1.9MM arbitration salary. They re-signed him midway through Spring Training on a split deal that pays at a $1.4MM rate in the big leagues and $500K for whatever time he spends in the minors. - Anthony Franco
Tate has found himself mostly working in Triple A as he opened the season on assignment to Buffalo. During mid-April, he was with the Blue Jays for two and a half weeks.
He made five appearances, allowing three runs on seven hits and six walks over 5 1/3 frames. He fanned seven hitters but got whiffs on only 6.8% of his total pitches. The results have been much better over his six innings with the Bisons: one run on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts and a huge 18.2% swinging strike rate. - Anthony Franco

Blue Jays hope bullpen will continue to deliver with nine game homestand

The Blue Jays have appeared to turn a corner when it comes to their offensive game and their relief pitching as the team has won four games in a row and swept the Seattle Mariners in their home.
The team now returns to Toronto for a nine game homestand where they will take on the Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers and the San Diego Padres.
This would be a good opportunity for the Jays to gain some traction in the standings as they now currently stand at .500 with a record of 20-20.
Game one against the Rays will begin on May 13th and game time will be 7:07 PM eastern.
