Ross Atkins releasing five minor league prospects hurts today, but it decisively clears the runway for our absolute best young talent.

Saying goodbye to guys who grinded in our system is never easy. Fans naturally attach themselves to familiar names in the farm system.
The following five players have been released by the #BlueJays organization:

▪️3B Damiano Palmegiani
▪️RHP Dahian Santos
▪️RHP Bo Bonds
▪️OF Jacob Wetzel
▪️C Nicolas Deschamps
Damiano Palmegiani (Drafted Round 14, 2021 by Toronto Blue Jays) gave us some thrilling moments. His raw power in Buffalo was genuinely fun to watch.
Dahian Santos (Drafted Round 4, 2021 by Toronto Blue Jays) also showed flashes of brilliance on the mound. Unfortunately, flashes are simply not enough to crack a major league roster.
The organization also cut ties with Bo Bonds, Jacob Wetzel, and Nicolas Deschamps. We genuinely wish them the absolute best in their next chapters.
Baseball is an incredibly unforgiving business. The front office has to make cold decisions to keep the talent pipeline flowing.
Sitting at a 9-12 record in spring training, the coaching staff needs maximum focus. You cannot afford to distribute precious innings to players who have plateaued.
Releasing these five athletes eliminates a major logjam in the upper minors. The path is now completely open for the next generation.

The Blue Jays are actively demanding excellence from their system

We are absolutely fired up to see the front office finally stop holding onto average talent purely out of sentiment.
This bold move guarantees that our elite prospects get the daily at-bats they require to grow. Development thrives when playing time is earned, not just given.
Every single open spot in New Hampshire or Buffalo is a massive opportunity. Hungry kids from the lower levels are ready to feast.
We have pitching prospects who desperately need innings to refine their command. The runway is officially cleared for them to take off.
Our major league squad needs reinforcements who can actually contribute to a championship push. Stagnant development helps absolutely nobody in Toronto.
The organization is sending a very loud message to every single player in camp. Mediocrity will not be rewarded with a roster spot.
This franchise is building a sustainable winner from the ground up. We are trimming the fat to ensure the core is completely solid.
Spring training is the perfect time to make these tough calls. We are moving forward with a leaner, much more dangerous organization.
