The Toronto Blue Jays completed a trade involving pitcher Sem Robberse in 2023 as after the St Louis Cardinals latest move, the clear winner of the trade is evident.
While Ross Atkins is still planning his first big move of the off-season, his move from past seasons are still looking great, proving that he is one of the best GMs in baseball.
Blue Jays end up being clear trade winners after Cardinals latest transaction
Back in 2023, the Blue Jays traded Robberse and Adam Kloffenstein to the Cardinals in exchange for Jordan Hicks.

While Hicks did not last long in Toronto, they still ended up getting a reliable pitcher who finished with a 2.63 ERA in 25 games that season.
The Cardinals on the other hand ended up losing Kloffenstein who would go on to sign back in Toronto the following off-season and now Robberse has just been non-tendered.
The #STLCards announced they did not tender 2026 contracts to the following players:
- RHP Jorge Alcala
- LHP John King
- C Yohel Pozo
- RHP Sem Robberse
Their 40-man roster now sits at 37

Blue Jays fans were quick to point out how Atkins has been great in trades over the last few years which included this trade that clearly the Blue Jays won.
Has Ross ever regretted trading a prospect?
Austin Martin / SWR for Berrios
Robberse / Kloffenstein for Hicks
Frasso for White
Hoglund / Smith / Logue / Snead for Chapman
Groshans for Pop / Bass

Hopefully Atkins continues to work his magic this off-season and is able to put together an even better roster for next season.
