The Toronto Blue Jays lost their hitting coach Dave Popkins after he was ejected from Wednesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox after he argued several calls against the home plate umpire.

He was ejected in the 4th inning as he became fed up with home plate umpire Derek Thomas who Popkins felt His calls on balls and strikes were unjustified and became evident as catcher Alejandro Kirk left the plate frustrated.

Blue Jays offensive woes have plagued the team for weeks

Over the past several weeks, the Blue Jays have watched there fast start to their season evaporate and now trail several teams in The American League East while dropping below .500 in the standings.
The Blue Jays hired Popkins this past offseason as it was clear that the Blue Jays needed a new voice who could help the team attack the ball better at home plate and be more aggressive with their hits.
Despite their efforts, the Blue Jays continue to struggle offensively as the team has been unable to score earned runs on many occasions especially after being swept by the Houston Astros and were only allowed three earned runs through the entire series.
There are many factors that have led the Blue Jays down this path including the exceptionally slow start by Blue Jays newcomer Anthony Santander who is well known throughout the American League for being a slow start player.
The Blue Jays remain at the bottom of the standings when it comes to RBI at home run hitting for the entire Major League Baseball which needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

Blue Jays hitters ignited during Game 2 against the Red Sox

Last evening's game where the Blue Jays won 7-6 through 10 innings appeared to be heading for another dull game where the Jays offence was nonexistent.
This changed during the 6th and 7th innings as the Jays managed to score three runs each three home runs hit by Daulton Varsho, Alejandro Kirk and Santander which brought home Ernie Clement and Vladimir Guerrero junior.
The team capped off their win with the Kirk single which helped score Guerrero junior for a second time.
This flurry of offence has been the most over the past couple of weeks and hopefully the Blue Jays can continue to build off this win as this is their second win through seven games.
Both the Blue Jays and the Red Sox will face off for their last game on May 1st and first pitch will be thrown at 7:07 PM eastern.
