The Toronto Blue Jays have been actively looking at the trade market and a recent proposal suggest an very interesting trade with the St Louis Cardinals.

This is not the first big time trade proposal that has surfaced over the past couple weeks as a recent offer was made which would see the Blue Jays land Jose Ramirez.

Blue Jays and Cardinals trade proposal

The Blue Jays just added two solid pitchers to their bullpen with Nic Enright and Josh Winckowski but both pitchers are recovering from big surgeries and will either miss all of if not a good portion of the 2026 season.
Toronto still needs to continue to add to their bullpen if they want to make a big run once again next season which is why there has been some many trade proposals flying around.
A recent proposal suggested that the Blue Jays trade for Cardinals relief pitcher Jojo Romero who is coming off a very solid 2025 campaign with a 2.07 ERA in 61 innings pitched and 8 saves on the year.
"That's why the Blue Jays should pursue St. Louis Cardinals reliever JoJo Romero. Romero is coming off a stellar 2025 campaign in which he posted a 2.07 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, along with 55 strikeouts in 61 total innings pitched over 65 relief appearances. " - Edward Eng

The Blue Jays struggled last seasons when it came to giving up home runs which is another reason that Romero would be a perfect fit since he was one of the best in the MLB last season with a 0.8% home run given up rate.
"Not only that, he was among the best relievers in the league with an 0.8% home run given up rate, yielding only two long balls all season." -Eng

This could be a great fit for the Blue Jays and Romero since he could even be given some chances as a closer if they still plan on moving off from Jeff Hoffman in that role.
The return would not have to be too heavy either as the Blue Jays could probably get away with one or two prospects headed back to St Louis.
