Toronto Blue Jays make announcement regarding Alejandro Kirk and the WBC

The Blue Jays made it official with a «Captain Kirk» post, and Mexico's program has been building a real roster early. Sportsnet also reported Kirk committing to suit up for Mexico this March.

The nickname in the tweet, «El Capi,» fits, because Kirk plays like a calm center fielder trapped behind the plate. He slows games down, and pitchers love throwing with a target that rarely looks rushed.

Kirk's 2025 numbers show why Mexico wants his bat in the middle of the order. On MLB's stat page he hit .282 with 15 homers, 76 RBIs, and a .769 OPS in 130 games.
