Toronto Blue Jays outright one of their pitchers to the minors
The Toronto Blue Jays announced last night that relief pitcher Richard Lovelady has been outrighted to the Buffalo Bisons after clearing waivers.
ROSTER MOVES:
We've selected the contract of LHP Mason Fluharty - he will be active for today's game and wear number 68
LHP Richard Lovelady designated for assignment
RHP Tommy Nance has cleared outright waivers and been assigned to Triple-A
The Blue Jays outright Richard Lovelady to Triple-A
The Blue Jays decided to DFA
Lovelady which then automatically placed him on waivers which he has since cleared which is why the Blue Jays have now outrighted him to Buffalo.
More #BlueJays waivers news: LHP Richard Lovelady has been outrighted to AAA Buffalo after clearing waivers.
Lovelady was DFA'd by TOR on March 30.
This comes as no surprise since Lovelady struggled in his two games with the Blue Jays as he currently has a 21.60 ERA on the season in 1.2 innings pitched with 3 strikeouts.
These numbers are exactly why Lovelady was not claimed off waivers because with this kind of play it shows that he does not belong in the majors right now.
Hopefully Fluharty will continue to perform in the bullpen as the Blue Jays are still missing a couple relief pitchers who are down with injuries and need at least one pitcher to step up during that time.
