The Toronto Blue Jays have been off to a great start to the season but ownership seems to be in trouble as attendance continues to drop.
The Blue Jays are currently in first place in the American League East through 7 games this season as they are ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays Rays by .05 games with a 5-2 record.
Blue Jays ownership is in trouble with attendance dropping
Blue Jays fans were clear last season that if they did not see big changes that they would be boycotting games and cancelling their season tickets which looks like they have done it.
Over the last two games against the Washington Nationals, the Blue Jays attendance numbers have been terribly low as they had 20,104 fans in attendance on Wednesday and 20,137 in attendance for Monday's game.
A Wednesday matinee win over the Washington Nationals at the Rogers Centre drew an announced attendance of just 20,104 - a crowd that was likely much smaller given the official total is paid attendance. -Longley
Two games earlier, for the opener of the three-game set against the Nationals, the number was 20,137. -Longley
These two games were the lowest attendance the Blue Jays have had since 2022 when they had 20,468 fans in attendance for a game on April 27th when Charlie Montoyo was still the manager.
Those two contests represented the lowest-recorded attendance for a Jays game at the Rogers Centre since the 20,468 tally on April 27, 2022, back when Charlie Montoyo was the manager. -Longley
Some fans believe that this is what usually happens in April but at the same time it is the lowest attendance they have had in 3 years which clearly points to some serious issues.
Having two of the smallest crowds in almost three years is certainly an eye-opener for the franchise and a reflection of the urgency to get off to a quick start. A three-game sweep of the Nats and a four-game split against the Orioles certainly accomplishes that. -Longley
The Blue Jaysv need to have an incredible season to draw fans back in that turned away after last year's disaster if not Rogers will be in serious trouble.
