After the game
Scherzer stated that he expects more of this type of play from himself and believe that he could push past this thumb injury and that it will not hold him back from pitching how he need to pitch to help the Blue Jays win.
«I'm physically good,» he said. "I know I can pitch like this. It's been a thumb injury. It's so stupid. But I've been dealing with it. This is how I can pitch. It's just a thumb injury. I'm not dealing with systemic injuries here." -Scherzer
Scherzer also added that after the start his thumb is starting to feel really good and he believes he can get on a roll after last night's start.

While
Scherzer is not the pitcher he once was, he clearly can still deliver at an elite level when he is not in pain which was on full display last night.
