Toronto Blue Jays star Bo Bichette announces why he will play for Brazil instead of team USA
Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette announced this morning that he would be playing for team Brazil at the baseball world classic.
This is not the first time Bichette will be playing for Brazil in international baseball as he has represented Brazil in the past along side his brother Dante since their mother is from Brazil.

Bichette stated that he will once again being representing Brazil at the World Baseball Classic alongside his brother Dante for 2026.
Bo Bichette will once again don the colours of Brazil.
The Toronto Blue Jays shortstop tells MLB.com's Ayako Oikawa that he intends to join his brother, Dante Bichette Jr., on Brazil's team at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. -TSN
Bichette stated his reasoning behind choosing to represent Brazil instead of USA is because it means a lot to their entire family and he wants to help put attention on Brazilian baseball.
"It means a lot to our whole family," Bichette said. "We want to do our best to contribute to the team's victory and draw some attention to Brazilian baseball." -Bichette
The reason that Bichette and his brother are able to represent Brazil in international play is because his mother Mariana is from Porto Alegre, Brazil.

The last time Bichette represented Brazil was in the 2017 WBC where the team lost in the semi-finals of the division 4 qualifiers.
Both brothers took part in the qualifying for the 2017 WBC with Brazil ultimately falling to Israel in the semi-finals of the Qualifier 4 division. -TSN
Clearly playing for team Brazil means a lot to Bo and the entire Bichette family.
