Trade offer announced between the Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates for all-star pitcher
The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking for ways to improve their starting rotation which has been mediocre this season which is why they are looking to trade for Pittsburgh Pirates Andrew Heaney.
The Blue Jays have made some moves with Max Scherzer still out by signing Spencer Turnbull and Jose Urena but none of this tiny moves will actually make a real difference.
Blue Jays interested in trading for Pirates pitcher Andrew Hainey
The Pirates are in a strange spot as they currently have plenty of good players but cannot figure out how to win a game which is why they clearly need to shake things up if they plan on not wasting this pool of young talented players.
One player that they are apparently interested in move on from is pitcher Andrew
Hainey as he is one of the oldest players on the team at 34 but with a ERA slightly above 3.00 this season, he clearly still has a lot left in the tank.
The Pirates are the complete opposite of the White Sox; they have several really good players but can't find a way to put together wins. While names like Paul Skenes, and Oneil Cruz would be the prize of the trade deadline, there's now way the Pirates would move either of them. Instead, we'll focus on Heaney, the the 34-year-old lefty who has a 3.15 ERA. -Sookram
Many believe that since Hainey will be a free agent at the end of the season, the Blue Jays could likely get him for a very low return at the deadline and improve their rotation drastically heading into the last portion of the season.
He'll be a free agent at the end of the season, so this would be a great «buy low» option for the Blue Jays. -Sookram
This move also make sense since the Blue Jays still seem to have no clue on when Max Scherzer will be back this season or if he will be back at all and until then they have no left handed pitchers in their rotation.
The Blue Jays don't have a lefty starter and have an open spot in the rotation until until Max Scherzer returns. -Sookram
Clearly it is time for the Blue Jays to find Scherzer's replacement as he does not look to be coming back anytime soon.
