Unfortunate update announced regarding Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho has been on fire in Spring Training at the plate which is not his usual strength but according to Keegan Matheson that does not mean he will be ready for Opening Day.
Varsho has been on a long path back from shoulder surgery that he had at the end of last season and has been progressing at a rapid pace but it looks like his still won't be ready in time for game 1.

Varsho has started to see some action in Spring Training but has only been hitting as he has yet to play defense just yet but has looked verry good at the plate as he hit his 4th homerun of Spring against the Orioles today.

Despite all of this, MLB insider Keegan Matheson stated that Varsho is throwing from 105 feet away and is progressing very well but despite that will most likely not be playing on Opening Day.

Varsho has two weeks until Opening Day. It's still very possible he needs some extra time to ramp up his throwing all the way, but given how complicated shoulder rehabs can be, he's in a fine spot. #BlueJays

The good news of all of this is that since Varsho is progressing at such a rapid pace, even if he misses the start of the season, he will surely be back in the first couple weeks unless he has some unexpected set backs.
Now the Blue Jays will have to see who will replace Varsho for the start of the season as the top candidates seem to be Davis Schneider or Joey Loperfido as Alan Roden is expected to start 2025 in the minors.
