Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is using his platform for something bigger than baseball this week, announcing support for earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela.

Guerrero partnered with Alltroo ahead of Toronto's series against the San Diego Padres to raise money for a country still recovering from two devastating earthquakes.

"My heart is with Venezuela," Guerrero wrote. "Join me in supporting urgent earthquake relief efforts at alltroo.com/vladdy."

Anyone who contributes through his link gets entered into a giveaway for a full weekend in Toronto, including a stadium-view hotel stay and tickets to a September series against the Orioles.

The gesture is drawing attention well beyond the Blue Jays' own fan base.

Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals and Luis Torrens of the New York Mets both responded with gratitude, a reminder of how many players across the league carry ties to Venezuela.

It's the kind of moment that lands differently than anything happening on the field this season for Guerrero.

A tough season on the field hasn't slowed his impact off it

Guerrero is in the middle of a career-worst year at the plate, hitting .262 with a .694 OPS across 88 games, along with just five home runs and 37 RBIs.

Those numbers are a steep drop for a player in the first season of a 14-year, 500 million dollar contract, and they've drawn plenty of criticism from a fan base expecting more.

But this week showed a different side of what Guerrero means to this organization and to players around the league who share his background.

A slump doesn't define a season, and neither does a single fundraiser, but both are part of the same story being written about him in 2026.

Toronto sits at 44-49 and enters this weekend's series against the Padres riding a two game winning streak, still hoping Guerrero's bat catches up to moments like this one.

For now, the numbers on the back of his baseball card tell one story, and the response from around the league tells another entirely.
