Vladimir Guerrero Jr. just dropped a story from the ALCS that proves he is the hero the city of Toronto loves.

We all remember the stress of that series against Seattle, but Vladdy just revealed a behind-the-scenes moment that makes the victory even sweeter.
In a translated interview, he detailed a moment when the Mariners were up 3-2 in the series and feeling invincible.
As he walked past a group of Mariners' families, a player's wife decided to get bold, yelling "Da Blue Jays Lose!" right in his face.
Most players would snap back or get rattled, but Vladdy? He just kept walking with his headphones on, pretending to listen to music.
But inside, he was already plotting their demise.
He leaned over to teammate Andrés Giménez and whispered the coldest line imaginable: "They don’t know they’re heading into the Valley of Death."

I still remember that moment during the Seattle series. As I was walking past a group of family members, one of the women yelled right next to me, loud and proud: “Da Blue Jays lose!” They were up 3-2 in the series at the time, cocky as hell. All I could think was, Winners get to have the fun.

I had my headphones on, pretending to listen to music, I wasn’t actually playing anything, just trying to stay in my own head. She said it so boldly, right there beside me, “Da Bluejays Lose” and the group erupted in cheers behind her. I even knew exactly who she was and whose wife she was.

I was walking with Giménez at the time. I leaned over and told him quietly, They don’t know they’re heading into the Valley of Death.

The "Valley of Death" is the new nickname for Rogers Centre

That quote needs to be printed on t-shirts immediately.
It perfectly encapsulates the confidence this team had, even when their backs were against the wall.
Vladdy (Signed as International FA, 2015) knew that coming back to Toronto for Game 6 and 7 was a death sentence for the Mariners.
And he was right. The Jays stormed back to win the series, with Vladdy hitting .385 with 3 homers to earn ALCS MVP honors.
The fact that he knew exactly whose wife it was makes the story even better—he took that disrespect and turned it into rocket fuel.
"Winners get to have the fun," he thought to himself, and he made sure he was the one having fun at the end.
This is the kind of swagger that builds dynasties.
He didn't need to trash talk in the hallway; he let his bat do the talking when it mattered most.
Seattle fans might want to tell their families to stay quiet next time they see #27 walking by.
