Adam Macko had a message for the Blue Jays and the whole country of Canada before reporting to Texas.

The left-hander was dealt to the Rangers at the trade deadline, part of the deal that brought Josh Smith to Toronto.

On Aug. 7, Macko posted a farewell to Blue Jays fans that read like a genuine thank-you letter.

"Forever grateful for my time in Toronto and for the opportunity to put on a big league jersey," he wrote.

He didn't stop at the city. Macko made a point of representing the whole country of Canada, flag and all.

"Thank you to the coaches, staff and players for the last 4 years during which I've made friendships I will cherish forever," he continued.

Four years is a long runway for any prospect, filled with the kind of memories that don't just disappear with a trade.

He wrote (on August 7): “Forever grateful for my time in Toronto and for the opportunity to put on a big league jersey and represent not only the city of Toronto, but the whole country of Canada.???????? Thank you to the coaches, staff and players for the last 4 years during which I've made friendships I will cherish forever and memories that will never be forgotten. However, this is only the beginning and I'm beyond excited for this next chapter with @rangers organization. Texas, let's get to work!!

What comes next for the left-hander in Texas

Macko didn't linger on what he was leaving behind. He turned the page quickly.

"This is only the beginning and I'm beyond excited for this next chapter with the Rangers organization," he wrote. "Texas, let's get to work!!"

That's the tone of a 25-year-old who sees opportunity in a fresh start, not just an ending.

The Blue Jays moved him as part of a deadline built around adding to their big-league roster for a playoff push.

Whether Macko becomes a piece of Texas's rotation or bullpen down the line is still unwritten.

For now, the message stands as a clean send-off between a player and the fan base that watched him grow up in the organization.

Toronto fans got four years with him. Texas gets whatever comes next.
