Friday night marked the start of a three-game set between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners, with the Jays earning a 6-3 win to improve to 18-20 and notch their second straight victory.
Barger hit three doubles in Blue Jays' 6-3 win on Friday against the Mariners.
Ryley Delaney from Blue Jays Nation writes that the Jays struck early thanks to Barger, who ripped a two-run double with a 109.7 mph exit velocity, his fourth of the season, and just the beginning of his big night at the plate.
"In the top of the third, Ernie Clement drove in Barger with a single after Barger reached with his second double of the game. Following Clement was Nathan Lukes, who hit his second home run of the season to give the Jays a 5-0 lead." -Barger
This was easily Addison Barger's most impressive performance at the major league level. He went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBIs, including a career-best 116.5 mph rocket in the eighth inning.
On top of his offensive outburst, Barger also flashed the leather with a stellar play at third base, raising the question: could he be the Blue Jays' long-term answer at the hot corner?
The Mariners chipped away at the Jays' lead, with Jorge Polanco knocking in a run in the third. Randy Arozarena and Leody Taveras each added RBIs in the sixth to tighten things up.
Fortunately for Toronto, Tyler Heineman provided a key insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth, sealing a 6-3 win and extending the Jays' win streak to two games.
