The Toronto Blue Jays have faced a ton of heartbreak this off-season from player agent Scott Boras and it looks like he is trying to set them up once again.
Agent Scott Boras looking to take advantage of the Blue Jays once again
The Blue Jays have already missed out on two on Boras' client this off-season in Corbin Burnes and Juan Soto who used the Blue Jays to drive up their price with other teams.
When it comes to Alonso, the Mets stated that they were out on him but it looks like that was a bluff and that they are in need of bringing him back which once again would have Boras use the Blue Jays offer to drive up Alonso's price with the Mets.
Yet, per Sportsnet's Jeff Blair, even Alonso signing north of the border is a stretch. While Steve Cohen and the Mets has responded to Boras's bad intentions with more hardball, eventually those two sides will realize they need each other. Toronto, once again, is just a ploy until proven otherwise. -Powell
When it comes to Alex Bregman, the Blue Jays are in the top landing spots but it looks like they are slowly losing out to other interested teams such as the Astros and Tigers.
With a Bregman deal looking less likely by the day -Powell
If the Blue Jays end up missing out on Alonso or Bregman they will definitely have no chance at signing Max Scherzer and there off-season will end in disappointment with only Anthony Santander and Jeff Hoffman seen as solid deals.
The Blue Jays started this winter with big plans, but so far all they have is Anthony Santander to show for it. -Powell
This is terrible news for the Blue Jays as they were finally confident that they would be able to close on a deal with a Boras client but it does not seem that way anymore.
