John Schneider had a strange story to tell after Max Scherzer started freaking out in the dugout.

The confusion centered on Cam Schlittler, who wasn't on the mound when the Yankees needed him there.

Nobody in the Blue Jays' dugout could figure out where he was.

Scherzer, watching from Toronto's side, reportedly grew agitated by the delay, unsure what was actually happening.

Schneider offered a pretty simple explanation afterward, or really, an admission that there wasn't one.

"We got no explanation. I don't know if he had to use the bathroom, or I don't know," Schneider said.

"Not a big deal, you know what I mean? We were ready to go," he added.

Why a missing pitcher still didn't slow the Blue Jays down

That kind of delay usually throws off a hitter's rhythm as much as it does the defense. Schneider didn't seem to think it mattered much here.

Scherzer's reaction, at least from Schneider's telling, sounds more like frustration at the unknown than anything serious.

These moments happen more than fans realize, whether it's an equipment issue, a quick trip to the clubhouse, or something entirely mundane.

Schneider clearly wasn't interested in turning it into a bigger story than it was.

Toronto stayed ready throughout the delay, and whatever held Schlittler up didn't end up changing much about how the game played out.

It's the kind of odd little moment that gets a laugh in the clubhouse and a shrug from the manager's office, nothing more.

Despite the small situation, fans were not too happy as the Yankees where given extra time but no explanation was given.
