The MLB non-tender deadline was this evening and the Atlanta Braves decided to cut ties with former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah.
The Blue Jays just announced around the same time that they decided to tender offers to all of their arbitration eligible players which involved Eric Lauer, Tyler Heineman, Ernie Clement and Daulton Varsho.
Braves decide to non-tender Alek Manoah
Manoah's time with the Braves was short lived as they announced this afternoon that they decided to non-tender him as well as right handed pitcher Carson Ragsdale.
The #Braves today declined to tender contracts for the 2026 season to RHP Alek Manoah and RHP Carson Ragsdale.
The former Blue Jays pitcher will now be entering free agency for the first time of his career as he looks to bounce back and find himself a new contract.
Alek Manoah becomes a free agent...
Things have not been easy for Manoah who was working his way back from Tommy John surgery when the Blue Jays decided to place him on waivers when the Braves claimed him in late September.
Manoahs pent some time with the Braves Florida Complex League team after the season but clearly did not impress enough for the team to take a chance and tender him a contract.
During his rehab stint, Manoah finished with a 3.96 ERA across 4 minor league teams with 35 strike outs in 38.2 innings pitched and a 1-1 record.
A team will certainly be willing to take a chance on Manoah this off-season but there is high likelihood that the deal is a minor league one.
