The Baseball Hall of Fame announced this evening the results for the class of 2026 and former Toronto Blue Jay Carlos Delgado finally received his answer.
There were quite a few former Blue Jays on the ballot this year which included Delgado, Rogers Clemens, Don Mattingly and Jeff Kent.
Carlos Delgado misses out on the Hall of Fame once again
The Baseball Hall of Fame Contemporary Era Committee is a way for former managers, coaches, umpires and executives to be voted into the Hall of Fame but also includes a chance for players that were not voted in by the BBWAA.
Unfortunately for Delgado, he once again fell short as he received 9 votes of a potential 16, which was not enough to get him into the Hall of Fame.
Carlos Delgado received 9 of 16 votes from the Contemporary Baseball Era Players Committee, leaving him three votes shy of the threshold (12) to be elected to the Hall of Fame.
Delgado's candidacy has life and must continue to be discussed going forward. #BlueJays

To get into the Hall of Fame, a player must received 75% of the votes and Delgado ended up at 56.3%.
Hall of Fame results: Jeff Kent (14 votes, 87.5%); Carlos Delgado (9 votes, 56.3%); Don Mattingly (6 votes, 37.5%); Dale Murphy (6 votes, 37.5%); Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield and Fernando Valenzuela each received less than five votes.
While Delgado still has a chance at entering the Hall of Fame, Blue Jays fans continue to not understand why he is passed up once again when looking at his numbers which were simply incredible and consistent.
For the decade spanning 1997-2006, the *average* season for Carlos Delgado was:
37 HR
116 RBI
.287/.397/.571
.969 OPS
148 OPS+
4.2 bWAR
One of 8 players being considered for HoF entry today.
