Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins has made it clear that he is looking to add a right handed hitter at the trade deadline to bring in a little more offense even though the Blue Jays offense has been pumping on all cylinders lately.
Trade offer announced between the Blue Jays and Braves for Marcell Ozuna
The Braves are currently in a tough spot where they will end up being sellers at the trade deadline for a second year in a row as it does not look like they will make the playoffs with the way they are playing.
According to reports, the Braves will look to move on from Ozuna since he is in the final year of his contract and the Blue Jays could be very interested since he is exactly what they are looking for.
If the Braves are virtually eliminated, they'll have no choice but to sell. And if they sell, there's one obvious name who will become one of the prizes of the deadline: designated hitter Marcell Ozuna. -Roberts
The Blue Jays are currently seen as the top landing spot for Ozuna since he could fit perfectly in the lineup behind Bo Bichette and ahead of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
"Ozuna would slot comfortably into the cleanup spot behind (Bo) Bichette and (Vladimir Guerrero Jr.) If Anthony Santander can get healthy and relocate his swing, Toronto suddenly has an abundance of pop in the middle of the lineup," -Kline
Ozuna could be a great rental for the Blue Jays especially for this playoffs run with the way the team is built and Toronto could get away with not trading much for him since he would only be a rental.
"Ozuna is possibly a rental - and he's a 34-year-old who doesn't field, so the value is limited. But as Toronto looks to find ways over the hump in a competitive division, they can certainly do worse than adding a power threat with Ozuna's track record of production, both in the regular season and in October." -Kline
Many believe that Ozuna is having a down year but he still has 11 homeruns, 40 RBIs, a .238 batting average and .367 on base percentage in 85 games this season which would be a great addition to the Blue Jays lineup.
