Toronto Blue Jays long-time assistant hitting coach Hunter Mense has announced is leaving the organization to join the San Francisco Giants.

The Blue Jays announced earlier in the off-season that they did not plan on making any big moves when it came to their coaching staff this winter as they almost fully cleaned house last off-season.

Blue Jays coach Hunter Mense is leaving

Bench coach Don Mattingly announced not long ago that he has decided to leave in search of new opportunities elsewhere but the organization apparently saw the move coming.
Don Mattingly is leaving the Blue Jays after their World Series run, but he is not planning to retire
Now, it looks like another coach is leaving as Mense announced to the organization today that he is joining the San Francisco Giants after spending quite a few years in Toronto.
Part of the reason seems to be that he wants to reunite with Giants manager Tony Vitello but the decision seems to have been unexpected.
Some #BlueJays news: Jays are losing assistant hitting coach Hunter Mense, per multiple sources. He's taking a hitting coach job with the SF Giants, reuniting with Tony Vitello.

Mense had been on the Jays' big league staff since 2022. Leaves another hole on their staff
While Mense seems to want to reunite with Vitello, there is also questions surrounding his departure and if it has to do with the addition of David Popkins since he clearly did an incredible job in 2025 and the Blue Jays have no plan on parting ways with him.
Mense will no longer be an assistant as it looks like he is getting the hitting coach job in San Francisco.
