Former Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen is officially back on the market as his time with the Milwaukee Brewers has come to an end.

Free agency is officially underway but there has been no big moves just yet as most teams are still clearing roster space to start making impactful decisions just like the Blue Jays.

Brewers decline Danny Jansen's option

The Brewers acquired Jansen from the Tampa Bay Rays at the trade deadline in exchange for second baseman Jahder Areinamo.
Jansen ended up staying in Milwaukee until the end of the season but the team recently announced that they have decided to decline his contract option for the 2026 season making him a free agent once again.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise since Jansen put up decent numbers in his 25 games for the Brewers as he had a .254 batting average with a .346 on base percentage to go along with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs.
Despite now heading back to the market, Jansen should not have too much trouble landing a new deal even though it might not end up being the long term deal he was hoping to sign.
According to a couple MLB insiders, Jansen will likely bring in interest from the Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers as they would all be good fits.
For Jansen, he should have opportunities out there in free agency. The Athletic's Tim Britton, Aaron Gleeman, and Chad Jennings listed the Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Texas Rangers as early fits for him. -McAvoy

It will be interesting to see where the former Blue Jays catcher ends up as he has proven over his career that he could be a solid number 1 catcher in the right setting.
