The Toronto Blue Jays negotiations with Bo Bichette seem to be at a standstill and the team needs to start looking at suitable replacements in case he does leave.

The Blue Jays apparently met with Bichette not too long ago but now have yet to make an offer despite being in contact with him since the start of the off-season.

Blue Jays could look to trade for Brandon Lowe

In a recent report, Blue Jays reporter Edward Eng mentioned how the Blue Jays should look towards a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays as a potential replacement for Bichette.
According to Eng, the Blue Jays should look at trading for Brandon Lowe as he would be a perfect fit to step up as a second baseman while Andres Gimenez could permanently move over to shortstop.
«As a long-time Blue Jays killer during his time with the Tampa Bay Rays, Brandon Lowe may not be the flashiest name out there, but he can still pack a punch when it comes to offense,» -Eng

The downside with Lowe is that he has battled a ton of injury problems over the last few years as prior to 2025, his last full season came in 2021 when he played 149 games, finishing with 39 home runs and 99 RBIs.
«However, the main caveat for the 31-year-old infielder is exactly that, his injury history and health. Over his eight years in the majors, Lowe has only managed to play more than 110 games twice." -Eng

However, last season, Lowe ended up staying healthy the majority of the season as he played in 134 games for the Rays as he finished with 31 home runs and 83 RBIs with a .256 batting average and .307 on base percentage.
If the Blue Jays do lose Bichette to free agency, bringing in Lowe would be their best option since out of all the infielders they can go after, he would be the closest to bringing in the same amount of offense.
The unfortunate part is that the Blue Jays need to wait until Bichette makes his decision before making a play for any infielders.
