The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to bring back former pitcher Seranthony Dominguez as they continue to look at options for their bullpen.
The Blue Jays have been linked to quite a few relief pitchers so far this off-season including new potential closers to replace Jeff Hoffman.
Blue Jays looking at possibly bringing back Seranthony Dominguez
Dominguez was acquired by the Blue Jays at the trade deadline last season from the Baltimore Orioles and ended up taking on quite a big role for Toronto in the playoffs.
The Blue Jays are in the market to bring in some powerful arms for their bullpen and bringing back Dominguez seems to be a real possibility.
The Toronto Blue Jays have been aggressive in bolstering their pitching staff via free agency so far this offseason and likely aren't done yet. Re-signing Seranthony Dominguez would be a logical next step to solidify the back-end of the bullpen. -Wrixon
Dominguez ended the 2025 season with a 3.00 ERA in 24 games with the Blue Jays which included 21 innings pitched, 25 strikeouts and a 2-1 record.
While Dominguez did struggle a bit in the World Series, he was one of the Blue Jays most consistent relief pitchers from the moment he arrived in Toronto which is why bringing him back could make a lot of sense.
The good part is that Dominguez' fastball has an average velocity of 97.7 MPH with a 33.3% whiff but the down side is that he has a 13.8 % walk rate.
Dominguez always throws hard and generates swings-and-misses. He averaged 97.7 mph on his fastball in 2025 while getting whiffs 33.3% of the time. Unfortunately, walks remain part of the experience as evidenced by his 1st percentile 13.8% BB rate. -Wrixon
Signing Dominguez does come with it's good and bad but at the same time the Blue Jays could do a lot worse than a relief pitcher that floats around a 3.00 ERA.
