Sid Seixeiro is back in the same Blue Jays debate after Seixeiro ripped Toronto's bullpen and plenty of fans pushed back.
The frustration around Toronto's relief staff is real enough. Through 4 games, the Blue Jays' team ERA sits at 5.45, and a few rough bullpen innings have already turned clean starts into late drama.
So Seixeiro did not invent the concern.
He leaned into it the way he usually does, with the kind of sharp, negative tone that instantly divides this market.
That is where fans seem worn down.
It is not just this one bullpen rant. There has been a steady pattern of Seixeiro hammering the Jays, whether it was the ALCS banner debate or his earlier shots at front-office moves.
And that pattern matters because Toronto is not exactly limping out of the gate. The Blue Jays are 3-1, first in the AL East tie, and they have already won 2 walk-offs in the opening week.
That does not mean the bullpen has looked airtight. Brendon Little has been hit hard early, while Jeff Hoffman has already allowed a run in his first appearance. Tyler Rogers, on the other hand, has opened with 3.0 scoreless innings.
The bullpen question is fair, but fans are tired of the act
That is the balance a lot of Jays fans are trying to hold right now. Yes, the bullpen deserves scrutiny. No, that does not mean every early wobble needs to become another “here we go again” performance.
Toronto's first week has already included Dylan Cease striking out 12 in his debut and Kevin Gausman allowing 1 hit across 6.0 innings. The rotation has given the club room to breathe.
That is why some fans see Seixeiro's latest blast as less analysis and more habit. They are not arguing the bullpen is flawless. They are arguing that he seems to reach for the darkest read first.
And in this city, that gets old fast. Especially when the season is 4 games old and the club is still sitting on a winning record.
The Blue Jays may yet prove Seixeiro right. Bullpen issues have a way of growing if they are not cleaned up quickly.
But right now, the bigger reaction is not shock over his opinion. It is fatigue. Fans have heard this version of Sid Seixeiro before, and a lot of them sound fed up with the constant drag around a team that has not even had the chance to settle in yet.
