Pascual Archila is giving John Schneider another low-level Blue Jays name worth tracking in a hurry.

The Florida Complex League Blue Jays opened 2026 by winning 8 straight before Thursday's loss, pushing their record to 8-1 and putting them first in the FCL North. That kind of start always puts fresh attention on the roster.

Archila has been the loudest early bat on the club. Through 9 games, the 19-year-old outfielder is slashing .375/.571/.542 in 36 plate appearances.

That line gets stronger when you see how he is doing it. Archila has drawn 10 walks against 9 strikeouts, which tells you this is not just a hot week built on loose pitching.

He also already has a double and a home run, giving Toronto some early impact from a player who had shown only modest production in the Dominican Summer League over the last 2 seasons.

Franklin Rojas has been another big reason this team took off early. The 19-year-old catcher is slashing .333/.400/.407 with 2 doubles in 30 plate appearances, and he remains one of the more interesting catching prospects in the system.

Angel Guzman has helped round out the offense, too. His 8 RBI are tied with Rojas for the team lead, and he hit his first home run of the season on Thursday.

Toronto's lower levels are giving the system some life

The FCL club did not show much home-run power at first, then suddenly left the yard 3 times in Thursday's 11-8 loss to the FCL Tigers. Renyel Campos and Guzman joined Archila in giving the lineup a little more thump.

There are fresh pro debuts to track as well. Gavin Smith, the prep shortstop Toronto drafted in the 17th round in 2024, is finally on the field after missing all of 2025 and has opened at .214/.353/.357 in 17 plate appearances.

Canadian infielder Tim Piasentin is at .194/.390/.226 in 41 plate appearances, while fellow Canadian Sam White has come out stronger at .300/.483/.350 in his first 29 trips.

On the mound, Josbel Garcia already forced a promotion. He posted a 0.00 ERA in 7.1 innings over 4 appearances before the Blue Jays moved him up to Single-A Dunedin.

Giacomo Taschin has not allowed an earned run either, while Miguel Pantoja has given up just 2 singles and 1 walk in 7 innings. Carson Messina owns a 5.06 ERA, but his 28.6% strikeout rate shows why the Blue Jays still see upside there.

For Schneider, these names are still far from Rogers Centre. But when an FCL team jumps to 8-1 and Pascual Archila starts controlling at-bats like this, the story stops being small fast.
