The Toronto Blue Jays seem to be in on every single big name available this winter and the latest seems to be Pittsburgh Pirates all-star pitcher.

The Blue Jays have some big shoes to fill with the departure of both Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt which leaves quite the hole in their rotation.

Blue Jays could look at blockbuster trade for Mitch Keller

Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter's recently stated that the Blue Jays could explore a trade with the Pirates for Mitch Keller as he would be a perfect addition to their starting rotation.
"Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber and breakout rookie Trey Yesavage will fill three spots in the Blue Jays' rotation, but the other two are a question mark with Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer departing and José Berrios frustrated with his late-season move to the bullpen," -Reuter

Keller is still owed $16.9 million for next season, $18.4 million for 2027 and $20.4 million for 2028 which is a lot of money but if they went after a player on the open market they would certainly be paying a lot more for a pitcher of the same caliber.
He is owed $16.9 million for this upcoming season, $18.4 million in 2027, and $20.4 million in 2028, all of which will be paid during his physical peak. -Espinal

While Keller's number have no jumped off the page when looking at his stats from the past few years, he might need a change of scenery to really bring out the best in him.
The Pirates had enough very rough season in 2024 but Keller was still able to finish with a 4.19 ERA in 176.1 innings pitched along with a 6-15 record and 150 strike outs.
If Toronto can find a way to not give up too much for Keller, this could be the exact type of pitcher and cost they are looking for to add to their rotation.
