The Toronto Blue Jays have now improved their starting rotation but are now looking at their bullpen which they might improve by signing former Yankees pitcher.

The Blue Jays have been linked to a few interesting options for their bullpen this off-season such as bringing in a new closer for next season such as Emilio Pagan.

Blue Jays interested in Luke Weaver

The Yankees decided to turn former starting pitcher Luke Weaver into a relief pitcher after a tough 2023 season and it has been an incredible turn around as Weaver has now become one of the most reliable relief pitchers in baseball.
Weaver could be a great option for the Blue Jays who are looking to improve their bullpen and potentially a new closer as he saw some opportunity as the Yankees closer last season when Devon Williams struggled as he got 8 saves in 12 opportunities.
Weaver served as the Yankees' setup man this past season, at least in the first half, as he finished with 21 holds. When Devin Williams struggled early in the season, Weaver collected eight saves in 12 opportunities as well. As a whole, he had a 3.62 ERA and 3.89 FIP in 64.2 innings pitched, going from a multi-inning reliever to a one-inning reliever used in higher leverage, at least in the first half. -Delaney

Last season, Weaver finished with a 3.62 in 64.2 innings pitched with 72 strike outs, a 4-4 record and 8 saves with 21 holds on the season.
In his first season as a relief pitcher in 2024 with the Yankees Weaver brought his career back to life as he finished with a 2.89 ERA in 84 innings pitched with 22 holds and 103 strike outs.
This move could make a lot of sense for Toronto since it would give them the option for a new closer but if not they would have the perfect set up man to combine with Jeff Hoffman if he stays as the closer.
While Toronto is looking at multiple options for their bullpen, this seems to be the move that would make the most sense as of right now.
