Blue Jays looking to trade for Cardinals infielder all-star

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at possibly bringing in some help for their offense and a trade with the St Louis Cardinals for Brendan Donovan is a possibility.
The Blue Jays have no been linked to many infielders so far this off-season apart from Bo Bichette of course who they are still considered the front runners to land.

While Toronto does have a very solid infield, they have been rumors that they are still looking to bring in some help and Donovan could apparently be that player.
The Cardinals have been cleaning house and many expect Donovan to be the next player to be on his way out which is where the Blue Jays could come in.
Another player who has two years of club control before he hits free agency, Donovan could be the next guy on his way out of St. Louis, with the Cardinals recently dealing Sonny Gray to Boston. -Sookram
Donovan is a utility man and could be used at all sorts of infield position, very similar to Ernie Clement which is why having both of them could make for a great platoon in the infield.
Ernie Clement and Donovan could make an incredible platoon in the infield. The left handed hitting Donovan smashed righties, hitting .315/.383/.471 with an OPS of .854 and eight of those ten home runs came off righties. Meanwhile, Clement had a slash line of .326/.351/.549 with an OPS of .900 against lefties in 2025. -Sookram
Last season Donovan had an incredible slash line of .315/.383/.471 against right handers while Clement had a .326/.351/.549 against left handers which is why this could work so well.
Going after Donovan would certainly be a solid backup plan if they end up losing Bo Bichette but if they re-sign him, bringing in Donovan could also be a decent plan to improve the infield as well.
If the Blue Jays want to start making more big moves, they will need to figure out their situation with Bichette first to see how much money they still have to spend on free agents.
