Patrick Corbin gives John Schneider a veteran arm after the Blue Jays dumped Josh Fleming in another fast bullpen shakeup.

Toronto designated Fleming for assignment on April 7 and recalled Corbin from Dunedin the same day. That is a blunt move from a club already churning through arms in the season's first week.
Fleming's stay was brief. The Blue Jays selected his contract on April 6, then cut him loose 1 day later.
That tells you how little patience Toronto has for the final bullpen spots right now. This is not a group waiting around for things to settle on their own.
Corbin brings a different profile to the staff. Toronto signed the 36-year-old left-hander to a 1-year, $1 million deal on April 3, adding a starter with 13 big-league seasons behind him.
The recall from Dunedin matters, too. It shows this was not just paperwork depth sitting off to the side. The Blue Jays wanted Corbin ready fast.

Toronto chose experience over a short-term lefty patch

That is the real story here. Fleming looked like a quick fix, but Corbin gives Schneider a more proven arm at a time when the Blue Jays cannot afford many soft innings.
Toronto has already been hit on the pitching side. Cody Ponce was transferred to the 60-day injured list with a right knee ACL sprain, which only tightened the demand for usable depth.
Corbin's contract explains the thinking. He was signed specifically as pitching depth, and MLB.com noted that Toronto moved quickly to add him after early stress on the staff.
This does not mean Corbin suddenly solves everything. But it does mean the Blue Jays prefer a veteran they believe can cover real innings over a reliever they were not willing to carry beyond 1 day.
That makes Fleming the roster casualty. He arrived, gave Toronto an option, and still did not hold a spot once Corbin was ready to enter the picture.
For Schneider, the message is plain. The Blue Jays are going to keep reshaping the staff until they find arms they trust, even if that means cutting through the back end of the roster at speed.
For Corbin, the opening is immediate. Toronto did not recall him from Dunedin to watch from the side. It recalled him because the staff needs help now, and the Blue Jays are betting his experience gives them a better chance to survive this stretch.
