The Toronto Blue Jays gave the fans an important injury update on George Springer ahead of game 5 tonight.
Blue Jays announce injury update on George Springer
The
Blue Jays were without Springer last night as Bo Bichette took over the DH role which seem to have worked out great for Toronto as they ended up winning the game 6-2.
Springer was spotted in the outfield ahead of game 5 as he was running different drills while the trainers observed but it looks like the final test will be swinging the bat as he will be at DH if he ends up playing.
George Springer is in the outfield now at Dodger Stadium, running while the #BlueJays training staff watches. He's done some straight-line sprints, now some curved lines.
For any "side discomfort" injury, the rotation of a swing is the real test.
The medical staff was then spotted speaking about the workout before heading back into the clubhouse.
George Springer just finished some running on the field, under the watchful eyes of Blue Jays medical staff. They had a discussion out in right field afterwards and just walked back into clubhouse. No Blue Jays lineup yet.
Manager John Schneider also stated that he is looking good after swinging the bat but they are still running a few tests before making a decision.
George Springer swung the bat earlier and Schneider says that was «good»
After running, he'll try to hit off the machine before the #BlueJays lineup is finalized.
• Barger in the lineup either way
• Bichette at 2B or DH, depending
The Blue Jays have still yet to announce their starting lineup for game 5 as they are probably still going over if Springer will be in or not.
It looks like there is a chance Springer is back in tonight but it will all come out once the final lineup is set.
