Toronto Blue Jays top prospect Orelvis Martinez has been having a very rough season in 2025.

In mid August, Martinez was struggling at the plate and unfortunately things have not gotten better for the former Blue Jays top prospect.

Blue Jays prospect Orelvis Martinez continues to struggle

The Jays prospect had a lot to prove this season after being suspended for 80 games last year but things unfortunately took a turn for the worse.
Martinez was coming into the 2025 season with some big expectations as he was ranked third by Blue Jays Nation in their list of top 50 Blue Jays prospect to look for in the 2025 season.
"This is Blue Jays Nation's annual mid-season prospect list, where we'll take a look at the 50 best prospects in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. I'll look at the player's stats, what other publications have to say, as well as my own observations of the players." -Delaney

Due to the poor season Martinez has had he dropped quite a bit in the mid season rankings, as he is currently listed as the Blue Jays 13th best prospect in the system.
"Coming into this season ranked as our third-best Toronto Blue Jays prospect, it has been a rough season for the power-hitting infielder. While there's still potential in his bat, others prospects have passed him as he now ranks as our 13th-best prospect. If you missed who ranked as our 14th-best prospect, you can read about Fernando Perez here." -Delaney

So far this season in Triple-A, Martinez has a .176 batting average along with a .288 on base percentage and only 13 homeruns in 394 at bats which is not much for a power hitter.
"What's worse is that Martinez has had a brutal 2025 season, slashing just .176/.288/.348 with 13 home runs in 394 plate appearances for a 72 wRC+. While his 11.9 BB% is still respectable, his 28.4 K% is the worst since his 2022 season with the Fisher Cats." -Delaney

This will be an interesting off-season for the Blue Jays and they might end up looking at trading Martinez since they don't have much use for him anymore.
