Blue Jays pitcher Chad Green's time in Toronto looks to be coming to an unfortunate end
The Toronto Blue Jays have a few solid trade chips coming up to the trade deadline and it looks like relief pitcher Chad Green is one of them.
The Blue Jays have multiple players on the last year on their current deals and since none of them seem to be in contract extension negotiations, there is a good chance move than one is moved at the deadline, especially if the Blue Jays are sellers.
Blue Jays likely to trade Chad Green at the trade deadline
The Blue Jays bullpen has had some serious problems over the last two years but one of their most consistent pitches has been Green who had a 3.21 ERA in 53 games last season and currently has a 3.47 ERA in 24 games this season.
According to reports, the Blue Jays might end up moving
Green at the deadline regardless if they are buyers or sellers since he is one of their top trade chips in terms of getting a valuable return.
On Wednesday, Zachary Rotman of FanSided named 34-year-old Chad Green, who has a 3.47 ERA in 24 appearances this season, as a noteworthy potential trade chip for the Blue Jays this summer. -Roberts
"The fact that he's already given up seven home runs is alarming, but the right-hander has issued only six walks and has struck out nearly a batter per inning," -Rotman
The Blue Jays could definitely get a solid return if they end up moving Green but the one issue he is that their bullpen has had quite a bit of issues over the last two years and moving Green would mean losing one of their most consistent pitchers.
If they do decide to move on from
Green, they need to make sure that they are able to find a worthy replacement and get a solid return for him since this would definitely cause a hole in the lineup if not.
Toronto is in an extremely tough spot as of right now since they need to make some changes if they want to win more games but if the wrong moves are made, they could end up in a much worse position.
