The Blue Jays beat the Athletics 6-4 yesterday and win the series but the big story comes from a play during the 10th inning.

A foul ball was hit towards the Blue Jays dugout and as first baseman Tyler Soderstrom was trying to catch it, pitcher Yusei Kikucchi absolutely crushed him with a body check.

YUSEI KIKUCHI LAYING THE BODY

Kikuchi made an apology after the game to Soderstrom, saying it was an accident and that he was very embarrassed by the situation.

An apologetic Yusei Kikuchi said there was obviously no intent behind his collision with Tyler Soderstrom

Kikuchi said he forgot the absence of a dugout railing in Oakland and was embarrassed by the incident:

“After, I just wanted to create a little hole and hide inside it.”
