Former Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has made some interesting changes this off-season and it looks like he is not getting as much attention as he would have hoped for.
Many thought that Bichette would end up signing for over $200 million which is about $20 million more than he was projected to sign for due to the high demand from multiple teams.
Unfortunately it looks like not that many teams are looking for a shortstop which is why he recently told teams he would be willing to play second base next season after his short run there in the World Series.
"According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com Bichette is telling interested teams that he is willing to sign with them as a second baseman, something that may not be surprising, but at least opens up the possibility of more bidders." Matthew Sookram from Jays Journal said
Bo Bichette not getting as much attention as he expected
According to reports, this announcement from Bichette seems to be because he is not getting much attention to be brought in as a shortstop in free agency which seems to be due to his lack of defensive ability.
"Of course this could also be a necessity as most of the teams that may be interested in signing him already have a shortstop and they weren't willing to move off their current guy for someone who brings less defensive upside as Bichette does." Matthew Sookram of Jays Journal said
This is not all that surprising since Bichette has never been seen as a top defender in the MLB and most would consider him one of the worst shortstop defensively.
Moving over to second base is clearly a smart choice by Bichette and could end up being the same situation even if he returns to the Blue Jays
